Change Agent Series: Oprah Winfrey
The second Change Agent I want to honor in this series is a household name. There are very few in the world who do not know of her. Talk show host, actress, and producer, Oprah Winfrey. As a Mega-Philanthropist, Oprah has helped non-profits all over the world to further their vision and mission. There are so many organizations that are making a huge impact in our world because of Oprah’s generosity.
Additionally, Oprah also founded The Oprah’s Angel Network, a non-profit, volunteer organization that empowers people to make a difference in the lives of others. It organizes projects in under-served communities and provides educational initiatives; it also helps people fulfill basic human needs and regain their dignity. Its focus is on poverty, child neglect, and diseases.
Oprah Winfrey’s work as a change agent doesn’t stop there. Her belief that things could always get better, empowered her to lead a campaign to put together a list of convicted child abusers. Her effort was so successful, it attracted the attention of Congress and a bill informally known as Oprah Bill was enacted and signed into law by Clinton in 1993. The Bill demanded stiffer penalties for child predators. Oprah Winfrey is an Unconfined Diversity and Inclusion Leader.
Thank you, Mrs. Winfrey, for using your influence, resources, and charisma to impact the lives of so many people around the world. So many are living unconfined lives through your unconfined heart.
